Alternaria Leaf Blotch

Alternaria blotch affects Red Delicious and related varieties such as Empire. It is characterized by small, circular, brown spots on the leaves. The spots may have a purplish margin and resemble frogeye leaf spot and captan injury. This disease is aggravated by mites and can cause serious defoliation of trees.
